We’re proud to announce that Veramed is now a climate positive business. We’ve teamed up with Earthly, the experts dedicated to removing carbon, restoring nature and reversing climate breakdown, to offset more greenhouse gas emissions than we, as a business, are creating.
Think of it as “putting back into the grid”. To become a climate positive business, we offset 10% more than our total carbon footprint for 2021 (291.48 tonnes), taking our total offset to 321.44 tonnes of carbon.
In order to offset our carbon footprint, we invested in three incredible Earthly projects, each of which will help restore nature and reverse climate breakdown in unique ways. These projects are:
The Kasigau Corridor. This project is a REDD+ project based in Rukinga, Kenya. It protects an expanse of over 200,000 hectares of dryland Acacia-Commiphora forest home to over 2,000 elephants, leading to over 13,936,339 tCO2 emissions avoided to date. Learn more.
Mangrove Planting in Madagascar. Run by Eden Reforestation Projects, this project focuses on reforestation and poverty alleviation. Mangroves provide a wide range of natural benefits such as storm surge protection and natural habitats.

Brazil Nut Concessions In Madre De Dios. This is a world-class REDD+ project focusing on rain forest conservation Peru. Run by Bosques Amazonicos SAC (BAM), this project aims to reduce deforestation in over 300,000 hectares of Peruvian Amazon. Learn more.
Why is it a calculation of 2021 and not 2022?
Going climate positive with Earthly is an annual process that determines the total footprint over a 12 month period based on a range of contributing factors, such as the total number of employees at a given time. However, this isn’t a one-off pat on the back investment that helps us sleep at night. This is an annual commitment to offset our carbon footprint.
We want to help inspire change within the bio-pharmaceutical to focus more on sustainability and climate change, which is why initiatives such as our work with Earthly are ingrained in our global strategy going forward.

An independent science board at Earthly containing a diverse range of experts helps maintain this high standard, coordinating with global projects that focus on UN Sustainable Development Goals.
